The Conjunction Tarot: Symbolism, Structure, and a Modern Esoteric Vision

The Conjunction Tarot is my personal creation — a contemporary 80-card Tarot deck that weaves together alchemical, hermetic, and gnostic influences into a coherent and symbolically rich system. Over the course of nine years, I worked at the intersection of art and esoteric philosophy to bring this deck to life.
Each card is hand-drawn using pigment liners and colored with pens. Instead of traditional gold leaf, I chose digital gold tones to stay aligned with sustainable values. The process was deeply intentional: I spent between 20 and 50 hours on each card, completing roughly one every month or two. Although I do not have a formal art school background, I’ve developed a personal, methodical technique that prioritizes symbolic clarity over stylistic flourish.

The structure of the deck follows classical esoteric models. The Major Arcana corresponds to the 22 paths of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, combining planetary, zodiacal, and elemental associations. The Minor Arcana are divided into the four suits—Wands, Cups, Swords, and Disks — linked to the four Kabbalistic worlds: Atziluth, Briah, Yetzirah, and Assiah. Each suit contains ten numbered cards and four court cards, each deeply connected to elemental forces.
What sets The Conjunction Tarot apart is its conceptual intention: to represent a wide range of metaphysical ideas in a neutral, integrative way. Rather than anchoring itself to a single tradition or interpretation, the deck blends multiple currents. Its purpose is not to impose meaning, but to invite reflection. The symbolic language is designed to serve both as a mirror for introspection and as a tool for meditative pathworking.

The title Conjunction carries both astronomical and esoteric meanings. In astrology, a conjunction refers to the alignment of planets — a time considered symbolically powerful. In alchemical and hermetic traditions, the term refers to the synthesis of opposites: sun and moon, spirit and matter, the active and the passive.

Within the symbolic framework of this deck, it reflects the integration of diverse traditions, currents, and inner forces. Rather than presenting a fixed doctrine, the deck acts as a meeting point—a crossroads where various paths align to form a symbolic map.
I designed the cards to invite a dynamic process of alignment, contemplation, and inner evolution. The artwork reflects this vision: layered symbolism and careful composition allow for multiple levels of interpretation. The deck can be used in meditative, esoteric, or educational contexts—encouraging users to explore the deeper meanings behind archetypes and symbolic systems.

For me, art is more than expression—it is a ritual act and a spiritual key. Each card arised through my personal pathworking: an intentional, meditative engagement with the archetype or metaphysical current I have drawn. The drawing phase becomes a living experience in which the theme reveals itself not only on the paper, but also in my life. This way, the cards are infused with personal transformation and symbolic authenticity.

What I wish to offer is not merely my own symbolic opus, but the encouragement for others to begin theirs. I believe that creative expression —whether through drawing, writing, music, or another medium — can become a path of deep inner development. Each of us holds the potential to work with symbols and inner forces in our own way, crafting something that reflects our unique view of the path.

„In my understanding, the true purpose of esoteric art is not just to inspire—but to empower.“

I regard symbols as the universal language of matter, the code beneath the visible world. Art, to me, can open gateways to deeper dimensions of being—what I call “currents” or inner forces — not as external entities, but as aspects of the self awaiting discovery and integration. By aligning with archetypal energies, we gain access to layers of inner truth that words and logic alone cannot reach.
This deck is not only meant for fortune-telling in the conventional sense, but as a guide for self-reflection and spiritual exploration.

Great care was given to the production of this deck—not just to ensure quality, but because I regard this project as my personal magnum opus, the culmination of years of symbolic and spiritual work. The cards are printed in full color on high-quality matte laminated cardstock. The box features soft gold edging and a magnetic flap and includes a  companion booklet with over 100 pages. The set includes 80 tarot cards—79 standard cards (incuding 2 Magus versions), and one explanatory card.

Ultimately, The Conjunction Tarot is intended to be more than a deck—it is a symbolic map and a spiritual journal. With its layered symbolism, esoteric foundation, and commitment to neutrality, it’s meant for those who take their inner work seriously. In my hands, art is not decoration—it is a living philosophy: a vessel of transformation, a mirror of the self, and a gateway to what lies beyond.

This deck is drawn by hand, all pieces are traditional art. HERE you can find an overview of how the original artwork looks like.
I worked about 20 – 50 hours on a drawing, which is why I needed 1 – 2 months per piece.
